I have been listening to the Health Ranger Show podcast by Mike Adams and I got to this one podcast which really hit home with me. I have heard of this man (Peter Ragnar) who Mike interviews, around the web and seen some of his videos on youtube, but I never really looked into his work. This man is quite an inspiration for those, like me, who want to live the most healthy and happy life possible for as long as possible.

I don’t know exactly how old Peter is and I’m sure not many do know because he considers his age irrelevant. In this interview he reveals some clues as to how old he is. If you do a search for Peter on youtube (I can’t give you the exact link here because youtube is blocked - search my youtube favorites) you will find some interesting videos. I remember seeing one where he was training on a punching bag. At that age (I guess 67), this kind of intense training does not seem possible for someone his age. But, that is the whole point of this post, that is to inspire you, even if “you” are just the GoogleBot, to come to the realization that ANYTHING is possible. Thank you Peter! UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture is an advocate of a high Alkaline diet and has even attributed past victories to that diet. An Alkaline diet is based on the consumption of fresh fruits, vegetables, roots and tubers, nuts, and legumes while avoiding grains, dairy, meat and excess salt. This is done in order to balance the acidity and alkalinity (the pH balance) of the body.

In an past interview with bodybuilding.com, Couture explained, “There was a huge difference when I changed my eating habits when I went on a high alkaline, more natural raw food diet. I notice that with the same workouts, the same circuit training routines, I get some muscle soreness, but I seem to recover faster and better.”

I’m not saying he is a vegetarian or vegan. There are rumors around the web that say that he is or has been a vegetarian. However, he was accused of being the Eco-Freak once and the green drink guy or something to that effect. My point is he has followed a more natural diet than most and look where it took him… right to the top. There’s more and more evidence of MMA athletes and other top athletes in many other sports realizing that a natural all/high raw alkaline diet is THE optimum performance diet as well as healthy diet. Randy is in his mid 40’s and still rawkin!

Mike Mahler is another prominent athlete/trainer who is a plant eater as well. He is promoting the raw plant-based protein supplement that I mentioned in a previous post which is made by Sun Warrior.

Mac Danzig is a plant eating MMA star whom I admire. I am sure we will see much more out of him. On his site, you will find a promotion of a product line called Vega created by a prominent plant eating triathlete, Brendan Brazier, out of Canada.

The list goes on and on and it will only continue to grow. The number of folks waking up and realizing that real power comes from plants is alarming! It is fascinating and I am happy to see it. There is an even higher level of super human power that comes from the plant world in the form of nutrient-dense “superfoods”. There is certainly more to follow on superfoods as I am a “SuperFood Soldier” myself.

Although, I am not at the level of athlete ability as some of these guys, I am certainly finding their level of health. I have always been an athletic person, but I have always felt restrained by my health and general well-being. That is no longer the case. I have found the master key and I am unlocking the door that leads to abundance and saturation of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual power. In time, I will find my athletic calling… it is only natural to feel athletic when you are this damn healthy! I am going to take small steps towards mastering the physical realm. So, one of my first higher physical goals is to run 29+ miles when I turn 29 on Aug 29th. I have never ran more than 10 miles. The few times that I did, before going raw, I thought I was going to die. I blamed my breathing on “exercised-induced asthma” -laughs and I blamed my cramps on not drinking enough sugary so-called sports drinks. I feel like I can just go out there and run it now without training. However, I am going to train a bit before I take on this feat. I’ll let you know how it goes!

The USDA later introduced a food pyramid that was more geared towards children. Same thing just prettier pictures.

Now, the USDA feels the pressure and introduces a different type of pyramid. It is actually a valiant effort. I still think it is flawed and influenced by certain industries. For instance, they now give dairy a larger portion size than vegetables. In my opinion, dairy, especially from the bovine species, does not belong in the human diet. Maybe in some cases, bovine milk is necessary (RAW organically-fed, not pasteurized and homogenized), but goat’s milk would probably be a better option in these cases. That’s just me, I am living just fine, actually I am THRIVING without it and largely because I don’t consume it and I’m not even lactose intolerant. I feel better than at any other point in my life which I drank milk and did other dairy products daily. I feel this pyramid is flawed in many ways, but mostly because it really leaves you to wonder what not to eat.

You can drink them too! My Nutrition Profile/Blood Test Results

Here are the results from a simple blood analysis that was done as part of a physical exam back in Feb 2007. My cholesterol level was pushing the limits. I was 27 at the time and weighing around 215. I had just came back from a one year deployment to Afghanistan where I consumed all the good foods there. Even then, I was one of the healthiest eaters that I knew. I would have a salad and the healthiest choice of cooked vegetables with every meal, I chose the baked chicken, baked fish, or sliced ham, turkey, or roast beef over the fried stuff, and I would usually drink water and/or diet pepsi. I even had a stint of about 2 weeks where I ate nothing but a salad with no cheese or dressing, some fruit, and sliced meats. I did this because I was trying to get down to a certain weight. I lost 15 lbs, but it was torture! I knew exactly what I was doing though. I had it all figured out. Nutrition was a simple thing. Well, after I made weight, actually fat % count, I felt relieved and I had another stint of hot dogs, hamburgers, chili and cheese, and fried potatoes! This didn’t last long as my tour was almost up. I started to eat “healthy” again when I returned home in Jan 2007. I wonder what my cholesterol would have been right after going on that binge. I can guess that it was closer to 200.

Where do you get your protein?

This is the main question I and many other folks who live on only plant-based foods are asked over and over. Where do you get your protein? Where do you get your protein? There is usually no kind of variation in the wordage, tone, or infliction either. It’s always, “where do you get your protein?”

Well, a smartass answer would be, “I don’t!”, but I don’t like to come off as an assbag so I usually oblige with intelligent answers to the best of my knowledge. I will tell you this up front, I am far past the FACT that plant-based protein is far superior than animal-based protein for humans. So, if you have or can do your own research in this area and accept this FACT, the farther along you will be in maximizing your potential. I absolutely do not have time for arguing this FACT as it has been proven through science and the experiences of many (including myself) who dare to live on the edge of conformism.

Now, there are many types of plant-based proteins. The best are of course raw and natural as Dr. Gabriel Cousens points out, “cooking food destroys about half its protein, so eating RAW plants will also boost your protein intake substantially!” This is because your body can assimilate RAW plants much more efficiently than animal-based protein or even cooked processed chemicalized plant-based sources. Protein is essentially amino acids and all plants contain amino acids… unless they’re mutilated/cooked. Some plants have more amino acids/protein than others such as (not all-inclusive):

marine phytoplankton
spirulina
bee pollen
hemp seeds
chia seeds
Other seeds and nuts
goji berries (the only known fruit with a complete protein structure)
yellow peas
legumes/beans (sprouted or even cooked if you must)
quinoa, buckwheat, and other whole grains (this does not include whole wheat bread and certainly not bleached bread)

Yes, soy has a bunch of protein, but most varieties are GM’d and are unfermented which causes problems in regards to phyto-estrogens. I stay away from it. Besides, most soy products are made to emulate conventional food items. I don’t see this as a way forward because sooner or later your psyche will tell you that something isn’t right and you may eventually go back to eating the same bad foods again. It is so much better to make a complete paradigm shift and get back to nature, it will not let us down! Knowledge is the very best technology and we have infinite abundance of it available to us today. Chemicals and drugs have let us down in so many ways. The proof is all around us. There is a reason why organically-raised bees are not affected by CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder).

We were given perfectly functioning bodies and brains not to destroy them, but to feed them the natural foods that they were designed for. By the way, nothing from Monsanto is natural as you can see HERE.

I prefer to use the most natural protein which are the foods in their natural form unaltered. I use chia seeds every day! Chia seeds are not a huge provider of protein, but they have so much else to offer and they are so versatile. You should not pass these up!

much Omega-3 fatty acid as a 32-ounce Atlantic salmon steak, as much
magnesium as 10 stalks of broccoli, as much calcium as 2 1/2 cups of
milk, and as much iron as half a cup of kidney beans.

Chia naturally contains the highest percentage of Omega-3 of any
commercially available source. It is also high in vitamins and in
insoluble fiber (which makes it excellent for appetite suppression and

I posted a youtube playlist of videos before of Mike Adams. I have discovered a lot more that this guy has to offer.
